Please be aware of the following shipping authorization suspensions The Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS) has issued to mitigate the risk of exotic pests and diseases moving in trade:
- Effective Tuesday, December 29, 2015, APHIS will no longer allow entry of pepper fruit (Capsicum annuum) from Spain. APHIS has confirmed several interceptions of fruit flies in pepper fruit from Spain. Shipments that are en route and arrive on or before December 29 may be authorized entry following a successful inspection.
- Effective December 24, 2015, APHIS suspended authorization on the importation of citrus (including sweet orange, tangerine, mandarin, grapefruit) from Colombia. All permits issued for this type of entry are being canceled by APHIS, or amended when permits include other enterable commodities. APHIS is taking this action to review the efficacy of current pest risk mitigations for the pest complexes associated with this fruit in Colombia.
These prohibitions will remain in effect until further notice.
