As Seen in The Produce News: “CrowleyFresh Kicks into High Gear”

As seen in the May 9 The Produce News:

CrowleyFresh, Crowley Maritime Corp. and Customized Brokers’ newest cold-storage facility has been operating for only two short months, yet business at the Miami facility has grown substantially since its opening.

Business is booming as CrowleyFresh is continually acquiring new accounts. The 24/7 operational facility, which is fully equipped with controlled-atmosphere coolers, is currently stocked with a variety of wines, chocolates, mangos, Mother’s Day flowers and Florida fresh-grown blueberries. Soon, the products will be placed on insulated pallets to maintain temperatures and transported to their final destinations.

“We are extremely pleased by the level of growth that CrowleyFresh has experienced since its opening,” Eduardo Campos, director, logistics operations, said in a press release. “Customers are excited and impressed by the state-of-the-art facility.”

The facility recently received extremely high safety ratings from PrimusLabs — a 100 percent rating in food safety and a 99 percent rating in good manufacturing practices.

CrowleyFresh has also experienced significant internal growth. When CrowleyFresh opened its doors in early February, there were only five employees on staff. Two months later, 19 employees are working hard to handle and store perishables arriving daily from Central America, South America, the Caribbean, Europe, Asia and the Far East.

As the mango season comes to an end, CrowleyFresh staff is starting to prepare for heavy shipments of sno peas and asparagus.
