Florida Ports Cold Treatment Pilot

We are pleased to inform you that Cold Treatment Pilot Project is continuing to expand, most recently to the ports of Jacksonville, Tampa and Manatee, Fla. We will continue our efforts to push for opportunities for other ports in the Southeast through the Florida Perishable Trade Coalition.

Starting October 1, 2015, the Florida ports of Jacksonville, Tampa and Manatee are approved to participate in the Cold Treatment Pilot Project. The pilot includes the following cold treated commodities:

Peru

         · Citrus

         · Blueberries

         · Grapes

Uruguay

         · Blueberries

         · Grapes

Argentina
Applies to commodities originating in areas in Argentina not recognized by Plant Protection and Quarantine (PPQ) as fruit fly free and require cold treatment.

         · Blueberries

         · Apples

         · Pears

This is a cooperative effort between APHIS PPQ, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, and Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. Containers that do not pass cold treatment requirements will be prohibited from entering the port and will not be offloaded from vessels.
